Disclosure: ASAP Motion publishes this guide and is one of the servers listed. What we say about the others comes from their own documentation, read on October 28, 2026 (documented, not tested by us). We do not quote prices. How we check: about ASAP Motion.
What a video MCP server does
An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets an AI agent such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor use a product directly. For video, that means the agent can start a video, check on it, change it and get the file back, without you switching apps.
They differ in four ways that matter more than the tool count:
- What kind of video comes out: designed motion graphics, generated footage, recorded product tutorials, or programmatic edits of your own clips.
- Whether the result stays editable after the agent is done, or is a finished file.
- How you sign in: OAuth (your client opens a sign-in page) or an API key in a header.
- How long jobs report back: almost all of them start a job and have the agent poll for the result.
The servers
| Server | Best for | Sign-in | Clients documented |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASAP Motion | Editable launch videos and product demos, built from your website | OAuth, or bearer token | Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex |
| Hera | Motion graphics from a prompt, in several formats at once | API key | Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code |
| MotionVid | Ads and explainers, including AI footage | OAuth, or API key | ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex |
| Motion (motion.so) | General video agent for footage-led edits | OAuth, device flow, or API key | Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other clients |
| Clueso | Product tutorials and docs videos at scale | Google sign-in | Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor |
| Shotstack | Programmatic edits and templates from JSON | OAuth, or API key | Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and many more |
ASAP Motion
A remote server at https://studio.asapmotion.co/mcp, on Pro and Studio. Its tools follow the app’s launch flow: read a website, set brand and story, build a storyboard, then create_video as a job. The agent’s own model writes every line; ASAP Motion builds, checks and renders. The result is a normal project you can open and edit in the browser, and the agent can render stills, inspect what is on screen, edit single scenes, undo, and export MP4 up to 4K. Setup: ASAP Motion MCP server.
Hera
Hera’s server at mcp.hera.video/mcp mirrors its REST API with three tools: create_video (a prompt plus one to ten output configurations), get_video to poll status and get download links, and upload_file for inputs. It authenticates with an API key header. See ASAP Motion vs Hera.
MotionVid
A Streamable HTTP server at motionvid.ai/mcp with about fifteen tools, from create_video and edit_video to render_video, plus voice, model and brand-kit lists. It signs in with OAuth or an API key and also offers a ChatGPT app. See ASAP Motion vs MotionVid.
Motion (motion.so)
Mosaic’s video agent exposes mcp.motion.so/mcp, with profiles for different clients, OAuth with dynamic client registration, a device flow for agents without a browser, and an API key fallback. create_video is asynchronous, and follow-ups revise a finished job. See ASAP Motion vs Motion.
Clueso
Clueso’s MCP lets agents create and edit product videos and documents, bulk-edit many videos, and work across other tools such as Linear or Notion. Sign-in is with Google, following your workspace permissions. See ASAP Motion vs Clueso.
Shotstack
Shotstack’s server at mcp.shotstack.io renders videos from Shotstack’s Edit JSON, manages templates with merge fields, and can generate image, video or audio assets. It supports a long list of clients and either OAuth or an API key. It suits developers who already think in timelines and JSON.
Not quite video makers
- Remotion publishes an MCP server that searches Remotion’s documentation, which helps an agent write Remotion code but does not make videos itself.
- Canva has an AI connector for its design platform; video is one format among many there.
How to choose
- You want a launch or demo video with your real screens, and to keep editing it: ASAP Motion.
- You want filmed-looking footage: a server backed by a generative video model, such as MotionVid’s AI footage.
- You make many tutorials from screen recordings: Clueso.
- You edit your own footage with an agent: Motion.
- You build video into your own software: Shotstack, or Hera’s API.
Whichever you try, run the same brief through each: one real headline, one real screenshot, your logo. Then ask the agent to change one scene. A server whose result you cannot fix without starting over will cost you more than its first draft saves.
